Anche nell’era dei satelliti, la radio rimane ancora un mezzo molto efficace per la comunicazione in mare, grazie alle frequenze in onde corte (HF), con l’SSB marina e le bande radioamatoriali utilizzate nel lungo raggio e le comunicazioni in VHF per il contatto fino a circa 20 miglia.

Nelle onde corte esistono “Reti” radio marittime (“net”) in tutto il mondo, organizzate per gestire e coordinare il traffico proveniente in particolare da imbarcazioni a vela. Per queste imbarcazioni è importante conoscere le frequenze radio di queste reti e i loro orari, in modo da passare il traffico di messaggi, le posizioni, ricevere informazioni meteo e altro ancora...

Per noi che stiamo comodamente seduti davanti ai nostri “stabili” radio shack può essere un utile ascolto per conoscere le condizioni di propagazione, sentire come se la passano i navigatori solitari, tenere in forma la conoscenza delle lingue.
