LU8AEU is the official call sign of the training ship ARA Libertad, of the Argentinian Navy. The vessel has been spotted April 4th, at 02.49z on 7.084 Khz LSB. ARA Libertad is making the 41st year of education for the cadets's Naval Academy of Argentina, and it is included in Regatta dedicated to the Bicentennial of the tall ships "Velas South America 2010" organized by the Armadas of Chile and Argentina.
The ARA Libertad leaved last January 26 from Buenos Aires and it was planned in the following harbours:
Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) (30 January-08 February),
Mar del Plata (Argentina) (February 21 to February 27),
Ushuaia (Argentine ) (10-19 March),
Punta Arenas (Chile) (26 March-01 April).
It is currently en route to the port of Talcahuano (Chile) where it will stop from April 7 to April 13.

VALPARAISO (CHILE) from April 15 to April 21,
El Callao (Peru) from April 27 to May 3,
Guayaquil (Ecuador) from 06 May to 12 May,
Cartagena de Indias (Colombia) from 17 May to 24 May,

Fortaleza (Brazil) from June 12 to June 19,
Montevideo (Uruguay) from 01 July to 4 July 5 July and ends in Buenos Aires (Argentina).

LU8AEU è il nominativo ufficiale della Nave Scuola ARA Libertad, della Marina Militare Argentina. Il nominativo è stato segnalato sul cluster, giorno 4 aprile 2010 alle 02.49z su 7084 Khz LSB. La Fregata ARA Libertad sta effettuando la 41^ campagna di istruzione per i cadetti dell’Accademia Navale Argentina, ed è inserita nella Regata dedicata al Bicentenario dei Grandi Velieri “Velas Sudamerica 2010” organizzata dall’Armada Argentina e dell’Armada de Chile. La ARA Libertad è partita lo scorso 26 gennaio da Buenos Aires ed ha toccato i seguenti porti:

VP8CRL is the call sign used by Ulrich L. Rohde (ex. KA2WEU - N1UL - DJ2LR) currently with his yacht s/y DRAGON FLY, a luxury sailing yacht 14 meters long, situated at the Falkland Islands (VP8). Ulrich operates on board with the following equipment: ICOM IC-M710 SSB (VHF), ICOM IC-756 Pro III ICOM IC-7000 (HF / VHF / UHF) and a Rohde & Schwarz XK2100L digital station. Everything connected with a AT130 and multi-band antenna. VP8CRL was spotted on 6 March, at 20.03z on 21,250 Mhz in USB. The QSL is direct to N1UL.

EA5HID, Albert-Jan Kok was spotted on the cluster on March 02 at 08.39z on the frequency 14.320 MHz in SSB; Albert is aboard his sailboat s/y KAPR, a type Lumare 36 sailboat, about 11 meters long. It is located in the tourist port of Malaga (Spain); the equipment in use is an ICOM IC-725 with impedance adapter MFJ-041d and a whip vertical antenna of about 9 meters length, located at the stern of the boat. Albert is Dutch and lives in Spain where he gave tests for the amateur radio license, and where he wants to settle after selling the boat.

EA5HID, Albert-Jan Kok è stato segnalato sul cluster alle ore 08.39z del 02 Marzo 2010 sulla frequenza 14.320 MHz in SSB; Albert si trova a bordo della sua barca a vela s/y KAPR del tipo Lumare 36, una barca a vela lunga circa 11 metri. Si trova nel porto turistico di Malaga (Spagna); le apparecchiature in uso sono un ICOM IC-725 un adattatore d’impedenza MFJ-041d ed un’antenna a stilo verticale lunga circa 9 metri, posizionata a poppa dell’imbarcazione. Albert è olandese e vive in Spagna dove ha dato gli esami per la patente da radioamatore, e dove vuole stabilirsi, dopo aver venduto la barca.

YO4RYU, JORJ (Ginel) ANGHELUTA is active again on board a Russian tanker (name unknown); he was spotted on the cluster on February 25th, at 17.06z on 14.250 MHz SSB.
Jorj is back on board after a short pause, and will remain until July 2010. In the rest period, he has complied with all the receipts and confirmations about QSO made in 2009, and sent its own qsl you can see above. He works in QRP with a Delta Loop, and he will be active during the time away from the service. QSL via bureau or to his address in Romania, he will answer it on his return.

YO4RYU, JORJ (GINEL) ANGHELUTA è nuovamente attivo a bordo di una petroliera Russa (nome sconosciuto), è stato segnalato sul cluster giorno 25 febbraio 2010 alle ore 1706 sulla frequenza dei 14250 MHz SSB.
Jorj è ritornato a bordo dopo una breve pausa, e rimarrà sino a Luglio 2010. Nel periodo di riposo, ha espletato tutte le conferme ricevute dei QSO effettuati nel 2009, ha inviato la sua QSL personale che vi allego. Opera in QRP con una Delta Loop, sarà attivo nel periodo di riposo fuori dal servizio. Per la QSL va inviata o via Bureau oppure al suo indirizzo in Romania, espleterà il tutto al suo rientro.

Paul Dunkan, G7KES was reported on cluster last week, February the 12th, at 18.27z on Sat 435,300 MHz UHF band; he was on board the research vessel RRS Discovery, near the Canary Islands. Paul is a research scientist and work aboard scientific research vessels of the Royal British Navy. His previous ships were on board the RRS Charles Darwin, RRS Bransfield, RRS James Clark Ross and has been active in Antarctica areas.  His working conditions on board are: an ICOM IC 706 and a VHF/UHF rig for the SAT activity. His QSL Manager is G7SVF.

SAØANR e il nominativo di Hjalmar Schibbye un ufficiale della Swedish Naval Reserves, è stato segnalato sul cluster l’1 febbraio 2010 alle ore 08.56 su 14201.4 MHz in SSB; attualmente si trova a bordo della sua barca a vela s/y FLYNG PENGUIN (tipo NAJAD 440) lunga 13,30 metri e larga circa 4 metri. Hjalmar è in compagnia di sua moglie Brit-Marie e si trovano nelle vicinanze delle isole Faklands dove stanno dirigendo. Le prossime tappe dopo il porto di Stanley (Faklands), saranno Ushuaia e Punta Arenas dopo di che risaliranno la costa occidentale Sud Americana per arrivare alle isole Chiloe. Hjalmar e sua moglie stanno effettuando il giro del mondo con la propria imbarcazione, utilizza un apparato ICOM HF/VHF/UHF ed un’antenna filare.

Michael Kusters, PE3MK was spotted on cluster January 27th, at 23.55z on 7.035 MHz PSK31; Michael is on board the TSHD Volvox Terranova, one of the world's largest dredger (it is a dredge with a towed hopper - the hopper HAM 318 is the largest in the world, with its 37,500 m3).
The Volvox Terranova was converted about a year and a half ago in boat loading barges, capable of handling more than 20,000 m3 of material in a single load. It is currently located in the Gulf of Mexico. Michael is one of technicians and his leisure time is devoted to communications, preferring digital modes, but does not exclude SSB mode too; his transceiver is a YAESU FT-890.  QSL direct to P.O. Box 43 - Bakel, 5760AA - Netherlands, via bureau or via eQSL.

Michael Kusters, PE3MK è stato segnalato sul cluster il 27 gennaio 2010 alle ore 2355 su 7035 MHz in PSK31; Michael si trova a bordo della TSHD Volvox Terranova, una delle draghe più grandi al mondo, è una draga succhiante a traino con tramoggia (la HAM 318 è la tramoggia più grande del mondo, con i suoi 37.500 m3). La Volvox Terranova è stata convertita circa un anno e mezzo fa in imbarcazione di caricamento chiatte, in grado di movimentare più di 20.000 m3 di materiale in un solo carico. Attualmente è localizzata nel Golfo del Messico. Michael è uno dei tecnici specializzati e nel tempo libero si dedica alle comunicazioni, predilige i modi digitali, ma non si esclude che operi anche in SSB, il suo transciver è un YAESU FT-890.  La QSL va indirizzata via Diretta al suo P.O.
